- Would you like to have tennis courts in Donabate/Portrane in 2014?
- Do you think they would be a good asset to the area for current and future generations?
- If you do, you can help NOW.
We are in the process of applying for planning permission for 6 tennis courts on a site on Donabate Golf Course. The site is directly across the road from the golf club house . The planning permission will be for 6 courts, but we are applying for funding to build 4 courts for now with room to expand if needed. Members of the tennis club will have use of the golf clubhouse facilities including the excellent bar and restaurant.
We are now offering a limited number of 10 year discounted memberships for the very attractive price of €1,000 for family membership and €700 for single membership to help us raise minimum funding required for the capital grant application. Joining fee (€100/€75) will also be waived for those that take up this offer.
The majority of these memberships have been subscribed to with only THREE remaining.
Government Funding Application deadline is 28 February 2014
In order to build tennis courts in Donabate we are applying for funding from a state funded source called the Sports Capital Programme. This application must be made by the 28th February. This a community project which started in September 2013 and we are working hard to make tennis club a reality.
In order to be eligible to apply for the grant, Donabate Portrane Tennis Club needs to secure a minimum of 15% of its own funding and provide evidence of such funding.
The overall cost of installing four floodlit, tiger turf courts is €213,000. We have to secure €32,000 of our own funding to apply for Government grant of up to €181,000.
If we are successful in our application for Sports Capital Grants, we expect the courts to be operational by the end of 2014.
