Internal Competitions

There are many opportunities to play competitive tennis internally in the Club

Club Championships

internal Club Championships take place once a year at the end of summer/beginning of Autumn. The competition is a knock-out format, singles and doubles, and has multiple sections/flights in order to involve as many members as possible. The club championships end with our At Home in the clubhouse for prize giving and celebrations. For more information see  Championship Rules.

Social Tennis Tournaments

Social Tennis Tournaments take place periodically throughout the year. These take the format of 24 players, 6 mixed doubles matches of 20 minutes each. Each match is with a new partner and new opposition, assigned randomly on the night. Players keep their own score and highest scoring male and female win a prize. These are usually held on Saturdays and are a great way to start playing competitions in the club, in a social setting. The tennis is often paired with burgers/finger food and sometimes live music afterwards in the clubhouse.

Round Robin

These take place over a period of 5 months, and start once the club championships are complete. Format is box league with players of similar ability. After each round, highest scoring players in a box are promoted and lowest scoring are relegated. Matches are arranged by players. At the end of the Round Robins, prizes are given to highest scorers in each of the 5 events.

Rules can be found here.

The Pyramid Challenge.

This is our singles ladder, displayed in the Cabin. This runs year-round when the Round Robins are not in play. The aim is to move left and up the pyramid. Players challenge players to their left, and if they win, can then challenge a player on the row above. Another good way to meet other players in the club, and make your way up the rankings
