We had a wonderful evening for tinsel tennis. Everyone made a great effort with their Christmas outfits. Super tennis at both the early social and the later one. We had a great turn out in the club later for drinks, plenty of chat and lots of fun. Tinsel tennis is always a great evening.

Inaugural Malahide Open, July 2023
It was a strong showing for the club at the first ever Malahide Open this July, with 15 members flying the flag for Donabate-Portrane.
After a shaky start early on in the tournament, Ian Smillie & Niall Hanan found their groove to take home the Men's Class 5 & Below Doubles title.
Jen Hannon put in an 8-match shift throughout the week, finishing with the runner-up spot in both the Ladies Class 7 Singles and Class 5 Doubles (together with Úna Walsh (9matches!)).
Winter-Spring, Round Robin Winners 2023
Saturday evening we all got together to celebrate the recent Round Robin competition. Preceded, as is custom and practice by now, with a social knockabout beforehand. Drinks in the clubhouse with Killer Ceoil, followed.
Even the weather played ball!

Leinster Tennis Youth Forum
November 2022:
The first ever Leinster Tennis Youth Forum got off to an exciting start with the inaugural session taking place in Leinster House, no less!
The Youth Forum was invited as special guests of Senator Malcolm Byrne and Minister Jack Chambers. This marks a new era for Tennis in the province as the Forum will represent the voices of young people across the province. We are excited to see what lies ahead in 2023!

Welcome Ukraine, May 2022
Donabate Portrane Tennis Club welcome our Ukrainian community to the club.
On Sunday, May 8th, DPTC had the pleasure of welcoming our Ukrainian community down to the club.
Many thanks to Deirdre Meyler and all the volunteers who made this such an enjoyable event.
4 Nations, May 2022
Huge congratulations to the Senior, Four Nations teams who competed in both Bolton and Wrexham over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
Representing Ireland as part of the men's 65 team, Robbie Harrold and the guys went on to beat both Scotland and Wales in finishing as runners-up in their category.
What is an ITF World Tennis Number ?
It is a single global tennis rating for all players, regardless of age, ability or gender - from the world’s elite to a player taking part in their first competition or playing socially in their club. The scale will see players given a rating from 40 to 1, with recreational players starting close to 40 and the professionals being close to 1.
The ITF World Tennis Number will allow players to be grouped with other well-matched opponents, providing more appropriate and enjoyable competition for the players taking part whilst also driving player development and participation. It will support venues, coaches and officials in setting up competitions, and will allow new and exciting formats to be run for players of all standards. This will include competitions at Club, Regional, Provincial, National, and International levels. All players across the country, and all clubs affiliated to Tennis Ireland will get the benefit of this game changing rating system for free.

DPTC Virtual Stepathon
Our Virtual Stepathon came to an end 29th November 2020.
After a fantastic month of stepping our total combined steps for November were 1680639, which took us 12806km across the world to beautiful BALI! Just another week or so and we would have made it to Melbourne, but now it is time to get back to Tennis!
Congratulations to our Top Steppers - Eilis Kavanagh & Ella McDonough.
Their nominated charities are Alone & Special Olympics Donabate Portrane.

Under 14s
Stars & Stripes
THE FUTURE CHAMPIONS
We had the pleasure of hosting our 1st U14 Stars and Stripes cup semi-final and final on Saturday 6th December. It was lovely to see all courts full and lots of spectators. There was pizza for all players in the cabin afterward!
Clontarf won the semi-final and went on to win against Swords in the final.
Very well done to our U14 Donabate Stars and Stripes Girls & Boys for making the semi-final. Congratulations to our U14 girls who won a cup for winning the most games during the campaign.

Open & Ready to play
After months of closed courts due to the COVID 19 pandemic, we finally got the green light. Our intrepid volunteers were out of the traps on the 14th of May getting the courts ready for (compliant) play. Armed with hand-sanitiser, spray paint, posters and stencils, the team got the place ready in time for opening.
Winter League 2020
A SUCCESSFUL WINTER CAMPAIGN
DPTC ladies and the men have had a very successful Winter League campaign.
First up, the Ladies;
Ladies 1 gained promotion to Class 4 and beat Newtownpark to go through to the semi-finals, which are to be rescheduled once competitive play resumes.
Ladies 2 playing in Class 6, narrowly missed out on a place in the playoffs.
Ladies 3 lost their quarter-final to Clontarf 8, though gained promotion to Class 6 for getting through the playoffs.
Ladies 4 picked up 7 points to come 4th in their group.
So how did our Men do?
Men’s 1 ended a tough group stage on a win to stay in Class 5 for 2021.
Men’s 2 were victorious in Trim with a 3-0 win to finish 3rd in their group.
Congratulations to all our players.
Under 12s
Stars & Stripes
Well done to all our U12 Girls and Boys who took part in the Autumn Stars & Stripes campaign.
For a lot of our U12, it was their 1st time taking part and they made it to the Shield Semi-Final against Castleknock! Both teams earned 39 games resulting in all pairings having to play a tiebreaker for a place in the final. Donabate played super tennis and did our club proud, narrowly missing a place in the final.
U18 DLTC League 2109
HUGE WELL DONE TO ALL WHO TOOK PART.
The U18 Boys & Girls took part in the DLTC league which ran in September. This was the 1st time having a girls team enter the competition. The format was teams of 4 players 1 doubles pair and 2 played singles and a few subs.
